What is the correct temperature in your car?

Before multi zone HVAC became common in cars many a battle has been fought between people travelling together over what temperature is reasonable. What is your preferred choice and what punishment awaits those who mess with the settings while you’re driving?

Personally, I like to have my temperature set to 17*C (62.5F) in direct sunlight and 19*C (66F) in most other cases, which is probably about average.

I always like a good argument so I turn on both the heating and cooling on the seats at the same time.

Do you need to use an umbrella in your car or are you the owner of a legendary petrolhead relic - non leaky T-tops?

70°F. Unless the outside weather is between 60-80°F, in which case I’ve got all the windows down.

Funny that is about how the mrs describes it when I am driving, though she usually asks why do you have it set on Arctic for max ac or blast furnace for max heat.

Since I want to have a car with T-tops at some point, what sort of unholy sacrifice worked for you?

I tend to just drive with windows down and AC off if I’m in the city and it’s warm outside, but at speeds around 70 kph my car gets hella buffety.

I am required by the unholy gods to shave my pubic hair once a month. And if I scratch the ungodly itch that follows my facial hair is immediately replaced with the fallen pubes.

That was the year where all the leaks were installed at the bottom of the car? :)

Fan speed at 1, vent setting at defog, temperature at 60 Fahrenheit (one click up from the coldest setting). Once my car warms up, these settings are perfect for most of my driving except in summer. Strangely, moving the temperature control from 60 to 57.5 (max cold) feels like a much larger temperature decrease than any other single step on the dial, but that’s handy when I get toasty and need a quick bit of cold air.

Step 1: Have AC, that I don’t.

If I need it cooler I go faster.

Who needs window tint when they fog up just fine ;)

I noticed the lack of tint and strongly approve btw. Looks super clean. Nice car, sir.

In winter, it’s all the way over to the right; in summer, all the way over to the left. Spring and Autumn generally have it hovering around the middle.

And my passengers don’t complain ‘cause people want to be chilled in the summer and warmed in the winter, and who really cares about the difference between a li’l bit of blue and a lot of blue?

That’s quite particular. I just plop the fan and zone settings on auto.

To be fair, unless you have your controls in the middle (which I still claim is the correct place for the switches), It’d be difficult for a passenger to mess with your window. :D

The few times in my life that I’ve had automatic climate control I never paid much attention to it. I’d say probably somewhere around 70° F, though.

Most of the time I have my windows down instead because I prefer it and also because I’m a cigar smoker.

My car cares not for your bourgeoisie automatic climate control. ;-) And once I have my dials the way I want them, I hardly ever have to change anything.

I’m married, so unless I want to have an argument the entire time, it’s about 84 in the winter. And probably 75 in the summer.

If it were only up to me, it’d be in the low 60s year round.

I do. I’m my half hour carpool ride to work, I’m sweating by the time i get out. I’m usually hot in general, so I dress in short sleeves year round. I’ll get into the car in a polo shirt and no jacket when it’s 20 degrees outside because I know if I don’t I’ll be a puddle by the time I get to work.
